Victor Garcia Velasco

Victor Manuel Garcia Velasco, beloved father, son, brother and friend passed away on March 30th, 2025, in Whittier, CA at the age of 78. He was born on September 19th, 1946, in Guadalajara, Jalisco to loving parents Jose Garcia Pena and Dolores Velasco Macias. His family instilled in him a spirit of hard work, generosity and love of life that carried him throughout his time on earth. 
The simplest pleasures in life brought Victor great joy. He loved exploring the outdoors, whether it was going on a road trip to a far-away destination or exploring a new part of the city by foot, he always cherished these moments. Victor developed a great enthusiasm for cooking at a young age. After moving to Mexico City at the age of 18, he was determined to learn how to cook his favorite dishes which he loved sharing with friends and family. Victor believed that food was not only a means of bringing people together but can also contribute to making special gatherings even more memorable. Victor would go on to open restaurants in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico City, Reynosa, Arcadia CA and Monrovia CA. 
Whenever he was asked to make food at banquets, Victor always made sure to make extra food to distribute to the homeless. He would hop on a train and head to downtown LA to handout meals to people young and old. While doing so Victor would often impart to them words of encouragement to never give up regardless of how difficult their circumstances were. He would also make trips to Tijuana with bags full of clothing and shoes to distribute to children. The appreciation and gratitude they would display in return really warmed his heart.  
Victor was preceded in death by his wife Sara, father, mother, sister Cruz, brother Julio and son Oscar. He is survived by his 6 children (Eduardo, Antonio, Victor, Licet, Victor, Linda), sisters Ofelia, Luisa, Bertha, and brother Guillermo. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Philippians 2:3-4- “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also the interests of others”. 

Victor Manuel García Velasco, querido padre, hijo, hermano y amigo, falleció el 30 de marzo de 2025 en Whittier, CA a la edad de 78 años. Nació el 19 de septiembre de 1946 en Guadalajara, Jalisco, de sus amorosos padres José García Peña y Dolores Velasco Macías. Su familia le inculcó un espíritu de trabajo duro, generosidad y amor por la vida que lo acompañó durante su tiempo en la tierra.
Los placeres más simples de la vida le traían gran alegría a Victor. Le encantaba explorar el aire libre, ya fuera en un viaje por carretera a un destino lejano o explorando una nueva parte de la ciudad a pie, siempre apreciaba esos momentos. Victor desarrolló un gran entusiasmo por la cocina desde joven. Después de mudarse a la Ciudad de México a los 18 años, estaba decidido a aprender a cocinar sus platos favoritos, los cuales le encantaba compartir con amigos y familiares. Victor creía que la comida no solo era un medio para reunir a las personas, sino que también podía contribuir a hacer que las reuniones especiales fueran aún más memorables. Victor abriría restaurantes en Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Ciudad de México, Reynosa, Arcadia CA y Monrovia CA.
Siempre que se le pedía que preparara comida para banquetes, Victor se aseguraba de hacer comida extra para distribuirla entre los sin hogar. Se subía a un tren y se dirigía al centro de Los Ángeles para repartir comidas a personas de todas las edades. Mientras lo hacía, Victor a menudo les impartía palabras de aliento para que nunca se rindieran, sin importar cuán difíciles fueran sus circunstancias. También hacía viajes a Tijuana con bolsas llenas de ropa y zapatos para distribuir entre los niños. La apreciación y gratitud que mostraban a cambio realmente le calentaban el corazón.
Victor fue precedido en muerte por su esposa Sara, su padre, madre, hermana Cruz, hermano Julio y su hijo Oscar. Le sobreviven sus seis hijos (Eduardo, Antonio, Victor, Licet, Victor, Linda), hermanas Ofelia, Luisa, Bertha y su hermano Guillermo. Será profundamente extrañado por su familia, amigos y todos los que lo conocieron.
Filipenses 2:3-4: “No hagan nada por egoísmo o vanidad; más bien, con humildad consideren a los demás como superiores a ustedes mismos. Cada uno debe velar no solo por sus propios intereses, sino también por los intereses de los demás”.
