Victor F. Navarro

Classy, Strong, Reliable,  Independent , Hard-working, and Respectful : these are all qualities that Victor Navarro not only held in high esteem, but practiced every day during his time on this earth.

He was a serious and disciplined man, but he could never resist the opportunity to have a laugh with friends and loved ones in a game of poker or dominos.

Born on to Antonio Navarro Gonzalez  and Georgina Figueroa Santana on April 13, 1928, Victor was the eldest of nine children. He was born in Yubacoa, Puerto Rico.

On June 24, 1950, Victor married the lovely Hilda Esther Vazquez.  Together they migrated to Southern California. It was in Ontario, CA were Victor and Hilda settled and grew their family: 1 son and 5 daughters.  As a father he took pride in raising children with the same independent, hard-working, and strong character.

For 20 years he worked diligently as a machine operator until he retired. When Victor was not home or work, you would find him with the primos. Every weekend Victor would join the cousins and family for poker and dominos. Victor also took pride in gardening, and he was very good at his craft for sure. Victor would create mini “Puerto rico” in the backyard, planting everything from gandules, to platanos, mangoes, aguacates, watermelons, plums, lemons….and all organic.

Many present today will agree, Victor has left an imprint in our lives…A patriarch in the Navarro Family. He was an imposing figure of a man, a tall, dark, handsome, charming, whose strength was felt in any room he entered.  Though a man of few words at times, Victor loved his family. Victor gave his life to the Lord and made his peace during his last months of his life.

Victor lived a long and happy life, and only succumbed to ill health right at the very end… At 89 years old, Victor Navarro was survived by his wife, Hilda Navarro, 1 son, 7 daughters, 30 grandchildren, 32 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great Child.   As we gather here today to remember and celebrate his life, let us take peace and comfort in knowing we will see him again.
