Theodore Willis Jr., a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and friend, was born on December 12, 1953, in Los Angeles, California. He peacefully passed away on April 5, 2026, surrounded by love. Theodore was born to Ida Mae Burns-Willis and Theodore Willis Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of nine siblings and shared a lifelong bond with his brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by June, Theora, Theopolis, and Melvin. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved siblings, John, Idalia, Sterling, and Marvin. Theodore was first married to his high school sweetheart, Joyce Marie Tatum-Willis, who preceded him in death. From this union, three children were born: Ann, Theodore III, and Jamaal, all of whom carry forward his legacy with pride. Later in life, Theodore married Karen Coleman. Theodore served for many years as a school bus driver for Los Angeles County, where he was known for his reliability and care for the students he transported each day. Later, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by starting his own trucking business, continuing his strong work ethic and determination. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Daneashia Joyce, Jena Marie, Destiny Sheree, Joshua Theodore, and Angela Joy. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Theodore had a gift for bringing people together. He deeply loved his family and created spaces for connection, laughter, and lasting memories. His annual Fourth of July backyard barbecues became a treasured tradition in which family and friends gathered to celebrate not just the holiday but each other. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Theodore Willis Jr.’s legacy is one of love, unity, and dedication to family. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
