In Loving Memory of Sonia Mary Olivas
(Cedillo)
September 22, 1961 – [July 28, 2025]
Sonia Mary Olivas, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength. Her sudden departure has left an unfillable void in the hearts of her daughters, Christina Olivas and Liana Estep Olivas, and her cherished granddaughter, Crystalin.
Born on September 22, 1961, in San Bernardino, California, Sonia was the youngest child of Jose and Henrietta “Lola” Cedillo. She shared a close bond with her siblings—Sylvia Wenceslao, Jose Cedillo, and Carlos Cedillo—and brought light and joy to all who knew her. She shared a beautiful and unbreakable bond with her dear friend, Migdalia (Mickey), who stood by her through life’s joys and challenges. Their friendship was a shining example of loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love and she was always forever grateful to her and her family.
Sonia graduated from Ontario High School in 1979 and married Inocente Olivas in August of 1981. She raised her family in Ontario and later lived in Fontana and Rialto. A devoted mother and proud grandmother, Sonia’s world revolved around her family. Whether at birthdays, graduations, sporting events, or simple everyday moments, she never missed an opportunity to show up, support, and celebrate those she loved.
In 2018, Sonia bravely faced a breast cancer diagnosis. Through courage and unwavering determination, she became cancer-free by 2020. She was a true fighter—resilient, hopeful, and always focused on the people she loved most.
Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless love brought people together—often around the kitchen table for lively card games and cherished conversations. Sonia never complained, even in difficult times. Instead, she lifted others up with her warmth, humor, and unshakeable positivity.
We will forever miss her fierce love, joyful energy, and the way she made every moment feel like home. Sonia, may you rest peacefully and have a blast in Heaven—just like we know you will.
