Pearline “Pearl” (Burnett) Alexander, was born May 18, 1941, in Danville, GA to
Herschell Burnett and Mary Bash Burnett. She was the only daughter, but had three
brothers: Older Brother Herschell Jr., Charles Burnett and younger brother Michael
(who proceeded her in death).
Pearl Attended and graduated from Ballard Hudson High School in Macon, GA in 1959.
Shortly after graduating from High School she relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In
1965, Pearl relocated to Los Angeles, California to join her fiancé, William Crosby
Alexander who had relocated from Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1963. Pearl and William
were married on April 15, 1966, to this union two sons were born: Michael Crosby
Alexander March 1967 and Mark Craig Alexander February 1968.
Pearl received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Higgsville, Baptist Church in
Twiggs County Georgia. She moved her membership to Lundy Chapel Baptist Church
in Macon, GA. While living in Carson, CA she attended First Lutheran Church for many
years. Prior to returning to Macon, Georgia she attended Friendship Baptist Church.
Pearl enjoyed learning and studied at Cal. State University at Fullerton for 2 semesters
(1987-1988). She was an avid reader and loved fictional and romance novels. She
also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel, Soap Operas and Talk Shows.Her favorite
pastime was going to the beach and the park. She enjoyed the outdoors and on sunny
days would drive to the local park.
Pearl worked for Pac Bell and AT&T for 27.5 years and held various positions from
Telephone Operator to Marketing Representative Consultant. She retired in 1994. In
1998, she was persuaded to return and retire a second time in 2001. In 2003 when she
returned to Macon, she also worked as a teacher’s substitute/assistant.
In 2003, Pearl relocated back to Macon, Ga to care for her mother. When she would
come to California to visit, she attended Abundant Living Family Church. After her
permanent return from Georgia in 2017 she continued to attend Abundant Living Family
Church and became a member. She loved coming to church and attending Young at
Heart with her fellow seniors. In 2017, she resided in Ontario. In 2022 she relocated to
Rancho Cucamonga until her passing.
The main reason Pearl returned to California was to be near her family. She loved her
family and devoted her life to her sons, grandchildren and great grand son. She was
always concerned for their well being and did whatever she could to assist them. Pearl
will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Pearline leaves to mourn her loss: Sons, Michael and Mark Alexander; Grandchildren,
Brandon, Matthew, Codi, Tia and Nenai ; Great Grandson: Necko Adon Alexander;
Brothers: Herschell Jr( Yteria) Fort Wayne, IN. Charles(Angela) Macon, GA;
Stepchildren: Derrick Braggs, Lamar Braggs and Terri Braggs Fort Wayne, IN and
many nieces, nephews and cousins.
