Leona Mae Lemelle

Leona Mae was born May 11, 1933 to Jules and Felician Auzenne, in Leonville, Louisiana and went home to the Lord on June 19, 2019.  The second of four children, she graduated from Holy Ghost High School. 
On October 10, 1950, she married Norman Lemelle and together they built a life in California with their six children, Sharon, Craig, Rhonda, Leon, Julia, and Catherine. They lived in several cities throughout California during their married life.  After Norman’s death in 2015, Leona relocated to Chino Hills.
During her life, she was devoted  to  faith and family and was a cherished community member.  Leona worked as a seamstress, and in later years at La Puente High School and then Bishop Amat Memorial High School as an attendance office clerk and for a short time as a teacher’s aide.  She and Norman were dedicated volunteers in each of parishes, including Saint Louis of France in La Puente and St. Vincent Ferrar in Sun City where they met many new friends. They enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Norman, her mother Felician and father Jules,  brother Phillip, sisters Julia and Nola, and  grandchildren, Ricardo, Rafael, and Gloria, and numerous other relatives. She leaves behind her six children, daughter-in-law Karen Lemelle, sons-in-law Richard Chabran, Robert Eggers, and David Gorman, 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
