With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we said goodbye to him on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, after a brief illness, a week after he celebrated his 80th birthday. He was born on August 28, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Edward and Caroline Clark.
He was a loving husband to Linda for 50 years, a devoted father to Eric (Cathleen) and Allison (Waylon), and a doting grandfather to Mace and Charlotte.
He was the fourth of eight children, three of whom preceded him in death (Eddie, Jane, and Rose). He is survived by his oldest sister, Mary (Ralph), and three younger brothers, Jim (Marge), Tom, and Bill along with many nieces and nephews. He served our country in the United States Air Force, stationed at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. After he was discharged, he returned home to Pittsburgh for a year, and then moved back to Riverside to escape the cold weather. He remained in California for 56 years until his passing and loved every minute of it, particularly the hot summers.
He loved his family and friends, and was always wiling to help, especially when something needed to be fixed or built. Ever the resourceful handyman, his favorite tools included zip ties and duct tape. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed sitting by the pool, barbecuing, brewing beer, watching the Steelers, and spending time with family and friends.
He was always there for those he loved in his own quiet, steadfast way. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He was one of a kind and can never be replaced.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our family will never be the same. Our heart is missing and we will never be whole, until we meet again.
There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
