Millie (Nelson) Mullins was born December 18, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. She departed this life on Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was one of 8 children born to the union of Willie and Millie Nelson. She was the only girl. Her seven brothers (Tommie, Holloway, Leon, Abbie, James, Willie and Rudolph) all preceded her in death.
Mom was affectionately called Sister and Aunt Sister by her immediate family and many nieces and nephews. She received her early education through High School in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Pershing High School. After graduation in she worked as a sales person.
On a blind date coordinated by her best friend, she met and married Willie Frank Mullins. They were married on December 6, 1947 until his death October 21, 2016, sixty eight years. To this union was born daughter, Bernadette and a son, Willie Jr. in 1960, the family relocated to Los Angeles.
Mom accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and attended Zora Lutheran Church in Detroit and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Los Angeles. In 1997 she and dad moved to Ontario to be near their children and grandchildren. They attended Calvary Chapel, Chino Valley, for several years.
Prior to her move to California, she was a stay at home mom during her children's formative years. After moving to Los Angles, she worked as a preschool teacher a few years. Later on she worked at Wynn Mack Toy Factory and Ladish Steel Company as a clerk. After leaving, she worked for the Census Bureau. Her Final job was working for the Los Angeles Municipal Court. She loved working with the public and people.
Mom was a great cook. She loved roller skating, walking and gardening. She could grow anything, but above all she loved her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always thought of her family first before herself.
She is survived by her daughter Bernadette son-in-law William Duncan, son Willie Jr., daughter-in-law Kim Mullins, two granddaughter; Yennhi Henderson (Jesse Henderson III) of Harker Heights, Texas and Mylan Allen of Rancho Cucamonga; one grandson Marcus Mullins (Ashley Cruz Mullins) of Nashville,Tennessee; Three great-grandson's, Jesse Henderson IV, Jordan Allen, Cruz Mullins, two great-granddaughter's; Lindsay Henderson and MacKenna Mullins; sister-in-law's Bertha Nelson and DeDe Nelson, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mom will truly be missed.
