Hilda Navarro

May 19, 1931 ~ December 29, 2018 (age 87)

On December 24, 1931 the world was made a better place; Hilda Esther Vasquez Navarro was born on the beautiful island of Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. That day, parents, Jose Vasquez and Rosalia Labron welcomed their first daughter to their lives. Hilda was the second child of the Vasquez family. The Vasquez siblings were: Angel, Fidencion, Asuncion, Elia, and Johnny.

On June 24, 1950, Hilda married Victor Navarro.  Together they migrated to Southern California.  They settled in Ontario, CA for 35 years.  Later she relocated Fontana, CA. Together their family consisted of: 1 son: Edwin, and 5 daughters: Migdalia, Silma, Aveline, Victoria, and Elizabeth.

Hilda was an amazing cook. Perhaps, her secret was the use of ingredients from her own garden. Hilda took loved gardening. She especially loved her roses. She and Victor created a mini “Puerto rico” in the backyard, planting everything from gandules, to platanos, mangoes, aguacates, watermelons, plums, lemons….and all organic.

At 87 years old, Hilda Navarro was a blessed women. She was loved by her husband, son, 5 daughters, 30 grandchildren, 33 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great grandchild. As we gather here today to remember and celebrate her life, let us take peace and comfort in knowing that one day we will be reunited with her again.
